The Missing Servant : Akbar Birbal Ki Kahani
One day in the royal court of Emperor Akbar, Birbal arrived slightly late. He seemed flustered and out of breath. Akbar, curious about his tardiness, asked, "Birbal, why are you so late today? Is everything all right?"
Birbal replied, "Your Majesty, I had a rather strange experience on my way here. As I was walking through the market, a man approached me and asked for my help."
Intrigued, Akbar inquired, "What did the man want, Birbal?"
Birbal continued, "The man told me that he had lost his servant, who was a trustworthy and honest fellow. He asked if I could help him find his missing servant."
Akbar raised an eyebrow and said, "But Birbal, you are not a detective. Why would he approach you for such a task?"
Birbal smiled and replied, "Your Majesty, that's exactly what I asked him. He explained that he knew I had a reputation for being astute and quick-witted, and he believed that I could solve this mystery."
The Emperor chuckled and said, "Well, Birbal, did you agree to help him?"
Birbal nodded and said, "Yes, Your Majesty, I agreed to assist him. I asked him to describe his missing servant in detail."
The man described the servant as a tall, thin man with a long beard and a scar on his right hand. He also mentioned that the servant always wore a red turban.
Birbal then turned to Akbar and said, "Your Majesty, I realized that the missing servant could not have gone far. So, I simply went back to the market and shouted, 'Oh, red-turbaned servant with a scar on his right hand, your master is looking for you!'"
Akbar and his courtiers burst into laughter. The simplicity of Birbal's solution was both amusing and clever.
Birbal continued, "Within moments, a man matching the description came running towards me, thinking that I had found his master. I told him that his master was looking for him and led him to the man who had approached me earlier."
The man was overjoyed to be reunited with his servant and thanked Birbal profusely. Akbar, still amused by the whole situation, said, "Birbal, you never cease to amaze me with your wit and resourcefulness. Even a simple task like finding a missing servant becomes an entertaining story in your hands."
Birbal bowed before the Emperor and said, "Your Majesty, sometimes, the simplest solutions are the most effective. It is all a matter of knowing how to use one's wit."
And so, once again, Birbal's quick thinking and cleverness brought a smile to the faces of everyone in the royal court, leaving them in awe of his wisdom.
