The Elephant's Question : Akbar Birbal Ki Kahani
One sunny afternoon in the court of Emperor Akbar, Birbal was deep in thought when Akbar noticed his preoccupation.
"Is something troubling you, Birbal?" the Emperor inquired.
Birbal replied, "Your Majesty, I have been pondering a question that has been bothering me for quite some time. I cannot find an answer, and it is causing me great distress."
Akbar, intrigued by Birbal's dilemma, asked, "What is this question that has perplexed you so, Birbal? Perhaps I can help."
Birbal hesitated for a moment and then said, "Your Majesty, the question is this: What does an elephant stand on when it stands on one leg?"
The Emperor and his courtiers were amused by the seemingly nonsensical question. They exchanged bemused glances and chuckled.
Akbar, ever the inquisitive monarch, said, "That is indeed a curious question, Birbal. I would like to hear your answer."
Birbal, with a twinkle in his eye, responded, "Your Majesty, an elephant stands on the foot that is not on the ground when it stands on one leg."
The court burst into laughter at Birbal's clever and logical response. Even Akbar couldn't help but smile.
Impressed by Birbal's wit, the Emperor remarked, "Birbal, you never fail to surprise me with your quick thinking and clever solutions. Your ability to find humor even in the most peculiar questions is truly remarkable."
Birbal bowed before the Emperor and said, "Your Majesty, sometimes, the answers to life's questions can be found in the simplest and most logical explanations. It is a matter of perspective."
And so, in the court of Emperor Akbar, even the most puzzling questions were met with wisdom and humor, thanks to the clever mind of Birbal.

बादशाह अकबर के दरबार में एक धूप भरी दोपहर में, बीरबल गहरी सोच में थे जब अकबर ने उनकी व्यस्तता पर ध्यान दिया।
"क्या कोई चीज़ तुम्हें परेशान कर रही है, बीरबल?" सम्राट ने पूछताछ की.
बीरबल ने उत्तर दिया, "महाराज, मैं काफी समय से एक ऐसे प्रश्न पर विचार कर रहा हूं जो मुझे परेशान कर रहा है। मुझे कोई उत्तर नहीं मिल रहा है और इससे मुझे बहुत परेशानी हो रही है।"

हमेशा जिज्ञासु राजा रहे अकबर ने कहा, "यह वास्तव में एक जिज्ञासु प्रश्न है, बीरबल। मैं आपका उत्तर सुनना चाहूंगा।"
बीरबल ने आंखों में चमक लाते हुए जवाब दिया, "महाराज, एक हाथी जब एक पैर पर खड़ा होता है तो वह उस पैर पर खड़ा होता है जो जमीन पर नहीं होता।"
बीरबल की चतुराई और तार्किक प्रतिक्रिया पर दरबार हँस पड़ा। यहां तक कि अकबर भी मुस्कुराए बिना नहीं रह सके।
